Alarming Video Shows Instant Officers Get Knifed in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a partner that was assaulted by a knifeman has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist subsequent to a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in July 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashcam recording released by the force showed Brown, wearing in black with a hood up, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife extended.
He struck the officer who lost balance and fell to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground although being continually attacked with the knife.
PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a clear shot, bringing the fight to an end.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need assistance on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sgt Ansell received two open wounds to his throat and additional cuts to his limbs and body, while Sgt Foster experienced knife wounds.
Authorities stated Sgt Foster used his bare hands to control his colleague's bleeding prior to paramedics came.
The new award arrives subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted departmental Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the police federation award from the area Police Federation in early 2024.
They were also awarded a Area Bravery Award in July 2024.
"The efforts of the entire team eventually saved each other and meant no civilians endured any wounds."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, per authorities.
